AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE!
Wow – it doesn’t get any better than that! Arisa Trew with Women’s gold and Keegan Palmer with (back to back) Men’s gold in skateboarding.
Also, gold for Saya Sakakibara in bmx race and bronze for Natalya Diehm in bmx freestyle.
What an amazing achievement for Australia, and what a way to reinforce the importance of creating spaces like ours so that our athletes can train and thrive here, rather than having to go overseas. Not only catering for the elite level, but for all those people who walk away inspired, after witnessing the sheer talent and thrill of the Olympic Games.
In the skateboarding park alone the age range was between 11 and 51! Yes, that’s right 11 through to 51. Absolutely staggering. These spaces are not just for the youth, but rather for the young at heart.
One of our main goals is to provide a pathway for progression. A space for grass roots to the elite level. Giving those who want to progress, a playground and opportunity to do so.
We are so thrilled at what Australia has been able to achieve at the Paris Olympics and we hope to be able to facilitate a place that fosters the next wave of athletes.
